Generally, a result of the Hosting Capacity Map will provide a good estimation of the outcomes of an orientation study. However, there are some reasons why the results may potentially be different. For instance, reserved or allocated capacities considered at the time of the Hosting Capacity computation may have been abandoned by their respective developers, thereby liberating it. The inverse may also happen, when a new capacity is reserved or allocated between publications of the Hosting Capacity Map. Finally, to make feasible the computation process of the Hosting Capacity Map for the entire Elia Grid, several approximations are made. Specific constraints, such as voltages, short-circuit currents & spatial constraints are not considered, as well as specific operational measures such as particular dynamic topologies, redispatching & PST tap changes. These constraints and measures are evaluated in the necessary detail in the context of orientation studies.
