Access point
An Access Point (AP) corresponds to one or multiple connection points on the Elia Network.
Customers receive aggregated (compensated, i.e., calculated) measurement data values for each access point specified in their contracts with Elia.
Access Point messages are received by customers who can be producers or consumers of energy, or both. The direction of the energy flow is indicated in the message, and the values are always positive. These messages identify the client, the Access Point, and all parameters that describe the transferred power as well as the actual power values.
Connection point
The place where the connection installations and the Elia network are connected is called the "connection point." The connection point is the boundary between the connection installations and the electrical installations of the network user. Every connection point has a meter.
Technical unit
A device or aggregation of devices connected directly or indirectly to the electrical network that produces and/or consumes electricity.
Delivery point
A point on an electricity grid or within the electrical installations of a Grid User where a service is delivered. This point is associated with one or several metering(s) and/or measure(s).
Metering Point
Every connection point and technical unit can have a meter installation that is identified with an EAN, providing non-compensated data.
This can be used for two different purposes:
- Providing the measurement data from one meter (without aggregation). For example, a local production unit or a connection point. These Measurement Points are provided by Elia at no extra cost for the Network User and are part of the "standard measurement."
- Providing additional data specifically requested by a Network User and specified in a commercial contract between the customer and Elia (non-regulated measurement).
